More Q's!
Found these 07 models below. Is the 1st one any good or better than the 08 model because it has hydraulic brakes? Is the second one worth so much more over the 1st? Is that betetr forks? what else?
http://www.bikescene.co.uk/moreinfo....ion=922&sale=1
http://www.bikescene.co.uk/moreinfo....ion=921&sale=0
Next thing is that this morning i've been told of a government incentive to cycle to work. read here for info http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/I...tionLargeID=34
Basically i can get a much better bike for big discount!
*newsflash*. Apparently management havent decided and "it'll hopefully be by the end of the year"
No fucking use to me when i want a bike now!

Great scheme to get cheap bikes and not even take them to work! lol
gonna royally fuck me off if i buy a bike and 2 weeks later they implement the scheme. Id maybe sell off my bike i buy and get a weapon on the cheap.

mate, steer WELL clear of those Hayes Sole brakes. They arent really a proper brake TBH, as only 1 piston pushes, whilst the other is static, like the mechanical systems, but they actually work.
also, we do loads of ride to work bikes for people, and thames valley police. good scheme it is.

i just finished building up my old '96 GT Zaskar LE frame yesterday and took it for its maiden voyage
15 miles later my arse was hurting like fook - why did i ever change from the LTS full sus frame i had i dont know
anyway, it went very well and thats all that matters. prolly cost me about £250 to build (already had the frame and bars, but everything else is new, bar the 2nd hand avid disc brakes off my mate)
getting the calliper to fit the old skool marzocci bomber Z1 was fun, and BIG thanks to Boxxer for the disc clamp

Love to sell it!!! as I really need the money and the space right now
But seriously, if I sell that I might as well cancel the 3 gym memberships I don't use as well
They are all very big parts of my non-fitness regime mate

My thoughts on the subject:
don't buy a budget bike. The gears and stuff will NOT like sand and start to misshift/ghostshift like crazy as soon as it only smells sand/dirt The bearings will be worn out in no-time-at-all.
Stay away from mech disc brakes The spring is usually wrong. As soon as your cable snaps your bisc block immedately.
On cheap bikes the front fork will probably have a shock but will be crappy/unresponsive and heavy.
I started of with a Giant bike and bought it for about 1000 Euro (600 pounds) However, in no time I spent another 1000 Euro on it just to keep it in shape. The cheap crank failed on me really fast. The chain was worn. etc etc etc.
Ideally you want a bike with either Shimano LX/XT/XTR or SRAM x.8/x.9/x.0 and a FOX / Rockshox (or something similar) front shock.
Also, decide what you want to do with the bike. Light Crosscountry bikes do not like jumps/drops. Decide whether you want to go for an easy roll down trhrough dunes/forest so you don't need a full-suspension bike and a relatively cheap bike will do. If you're competive you'll be "racing" in no time and will want a better bike as well.
Above is ALL from years experience as I am also really into mountainbiking. Just didn't have the time this year because I want to get my car on the road finally.

Good advice there, aprt from the forks - MARZOCCHI all the way mate for front shocks, once you have had a pair you WILL NEVER go back.

CUNTS!!! I said look you fookers.... check your computers, they did. They confirmed I had been in twice. I said thats over £1500 PER FUCKING VISIT you have had out of of me.... AND YOU WANT ANOTHER £480?!?!??!
I swore alot down the phone. Forgot to cancel the direct debit and they got their money
ARGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Another Gym classic was a few months ago.... I was a member of Fitness Exchange at Broadgate as its 10ft from my office.... I never go but I saw that Fitness First bought out Fitness exchange and so the Gym at Broadgate was rebranded.
As I was also platinum member thingy of Fitness first at Liverpool street I can use any Fitness First.... so my tiny brain worked out that I was paying TWICE for a gym I wasn't using
I called them and asked for refund... they told me bollocks and Told me one month cancellation on one of the memberships
So they too are now on the LMH Cnuts who should die of super bum Aids list!!!
I AM AN IRRESPONSIBLE MUG!!! I should be retired by now if I had half a clue where my money went. I daren't even look at my bank statements! scary amount of direct debits that I have NO IDEA what they are. Pissed porn surfing no doubt!

So Lee, if I offered to go through you accounts and find all the ones you are wasting money on can I get a share of the savings found over 12 months??

In all honesty chop, given your technical prowess you would probably be better with the bb mechanicals especially if the hayes only work one piston. Hell your still going over the bars first pull since you havent been on a decent bike in years

I think so mate, although I rarely hear from him
Where are you working then.....
2008 Marzocchi is looking sweet.... 38mm stanchions Mmmm
Lamb: Look mate, ive been working in the cycle trade for about 9 years now, and im ACT and AGT trained up to level 3 and 4 (which is about as far as you can go!), and i KNOW what does and doesnt work. I have to fix/test the things!
Avid BB cable discs have been around years, and they are seriously powerful, even more so than some hydraulic systems. The likes of Shimano, quad etc, DO NOT WORK. The leverage isnt right on the calipers themselves.
Single pot hydraulic brakes also dont work, as you cant physically put enough fluid into a single piston, and expect it to squeeze a disc and slow you down. (bit like RST brakes!)
believe who you want bud, but im going from experience in my everyday job....

also, for £400, you wont get a bike with decent hydraulic brakes. Why do you think Specialized used Hayes "sole" brakes for one season? cos they are CACK!
You will have to jump upto £600, for something like a Rockhopper, which has hydraulic brakes, where both pistons actually move and do the job! They also have "proper" hydraulic forks, that damp any impact, rather than just rebound and bounce everywhere.

MB's are something i know nothing about and am just trying to gather info from all sides.
So what sort of deal to send me a pro disc bike to aberdeen? Is sending it expensive?
