Cut reg plates?

People with 5 and 6 letter private reg plates, some you see that are shortned so that plates fit the letters
, is this legal and is there a place that does them?

yeah can cut to any size ya like mate and shrink the lettering to suit (so the letters dont look odd!! At the moment probably 50% of the plates i do are cut down ones (both bike and car!!)

i got pulled in my xr2 by traffic old bill with shortened numberplates (6 digit plate) right amount of gap at either end of the plate and i was issued one of those MOT things and had to get them changed. (i didnt have the one that is in my sig on the car at the time, i had a proper size one just shortened)

What's with all these Saltcoats boys doing chubby plates?! That's a Troon thing! You's should stick with your motorbike letters and numbers on standard size plates

I've used a stanley knife and a straight edge in the past. Needs a file run along the edge afterwards though. A hacksaw and a jigsaw can also be used - depends how competent you are with these however, much easier to make an arse of it this way.

RE: the plates being legal, mine passed an MOT with mine (they are VERY strict where I take my car for the MOT and don't let you off on anything!)
