Default Football V's Rugby?

I dunno what it is at the mo, but i'm sooo fukkin bored of football, at both national and international level, the players no longer seem to give a flying fuk...

In comparison, Rugby, is everything football is not, the players are passionate about the game... My wife said while watching the Semi's last weekend, I never get this excited about a football match, even when liverpool are playing, I hadn't really thought about it, but I was totally emersed in the game.

Now the thing is I have followed Rugby at an International Level for years, I've watched the 5 then 6 nations religiously, but only really watched a few cup games at national level, even though i've always enjoyed them.

I keep thinking I ought to follow a team but don't really know who, we don't have any big teams in lincolnshire, I suppose the Tigers are my local team

Bit of a random post, but anyone else have a view?

I find Union a more tactical game, whereas League is faster... but I soon get bored watchin league, it's very much like American football, well in my eyes.

ive never really been that bothered about international level sport at all. somehow it doesnt have the same deep routed blind faith and belief with genuine highs and lows that goes with supporting my local football team (hearts f.c) since my school days. a but indifferent to international but ive followed my club team across europe to see them get hammered by the best.

Our international football players are a complete waste of skin!

The rugby lads show passion and pride when playing for there country and the current England team deserve so much credit for what they have achieved

can someone explain what is going on in a scrum? the game and the atmosphere the other night was full of passion, and the game as a whole is exciting but whats the scrum about?

scrum - the 8 forwards from each team group up in formation - crunch together - push hard as fvck against each other to see who is the strongest - mean time - the team that is feeding the ball in will try and get there hooker (front row middle guy) to hook the ball back with his heel and get it out the back of the scrum so that the scrum half (who put the ball in in the first place) can get it back and then throw it to the line of fast "backs".

Basically if u put the ball in the scrum u are expected to still have it after the scrum -

If u are much stronger than the other scrum - ur lads can keep the ball in the scrum and push the other pack of "forwards" back as far as they like

Hope that helps

Rugby is quality - they have been handing out free tickets to the rugby world cup final at my work - wish I was a high enough grade to get one!

cheers

im not a rugby fan but ive enjoyed watching england this world cup and the last world cup but thats about it,the rest i find boring
im sure itll be a great occasion saturday night and im looking forward to it but it would be 10 times better if the footy team reached a world cup final, but thats not likely to happen anytime in the next few decades

thanks for that steve,

my ignorance stems from wondering why the guy throwing the ball in, doesn't simply throw it towards his own men so they do have the ball. if he did that then it would seem that all his team had to do would be to try an 'hold the line' but if they felt like they were getting out powered, to back heel it and then off they go again??? basically, why does he not just throw it towards his own team?

sorry to be a divvy but just never played to the game

Arnt scrums in both codes uncontested now ?

i prefer League as a spectical , 16 stone blokes that can run 11 second 100 meters and then do it into each other is great fun

though Widnes my local team have been taken into administration

Union is wicked though and the pride that our team shows pulling on that shirt with the enlish rose on it could teach the lads with the lions a thing or 5
