Sorry, I meant a fast ford car as a hobby, not a commuter.
Isnt a modified ST200 a hobby these days?
Wasnt looking for a row, its not really what most of the readers are into though I suspect, not compared to Simon's saff anyway.
I dunno, seemed like you was being an argumentative nob to me

Its not as if Si owned the Saff for the majority of time at FF, or did much to it, or even that the majority of FF owners own Cossies, as I bet they dont.
Do you expect Si to buy a Ford Zepher or something now he Classic Ford Ed?

Anyhow, not sure about you, but I couldnt give a fuck what the editor drives, its the content of the mag that id care about.

Nah, it wasnt argumentative, was just being realistic that after modified VW's he will probably find fords a let down

Superb result ending up editor though, whatever the mag, and like you say im sure he will do a cracking job of it.

Barton pretty much hates vauxhalls I think and yet has done a stunning job of turning around TV

And yeah, TBH I would expect simon to have a classic ford (thought he already did in fact) to suit his new role.

He's not been "in to" VWs in the time ive ever known him (3yrs or so), not at all, just a general car fan, and considering the amount of quality fords around these days, it suits him down to the ground i reckon.

All he has mainly been in to (aside from just mental stuff on the whole) is fast estate cars, hence the ST200.

Well done all How bizzare, I found an old copy of Revs the other day, and Mr White was in there after he filled the orange project REVS stock car sierra with diesel, and got the nickname diesel dan

Whats become of Si Hargreaves these days? used to love Revs when he edited it

Stav, cool, he's a bright guy who obviously knows a lot about the larger industry (ie modded cars, not just fords) so im sure he will do a good job

Blimey! So many questions!

Hi Chip - Yes I like Fords, my last three cars have been Fords - four if you include my missus Focus. I'm not uber brand loyal to them, but I am partial to the blue oval. For what it's worth I'd been lusting after an ST200 for a while. Getting the Eds job motivated me into getting my hands on one. I do miss the Golf though, it was an awesome car.

Daviet - Nah, it was a bronze Mk2, not a white one. Revs gave one away, maybe it was that one?

As for Si Hargreaves (top bloke) he kind of helped kill Revs. He had some seemingly great ideas, but the more he implemented them the more the readers stayed away. Was a top mag in its prime, but it lost its way big time and putting it out of its misery was the wisest thing Emap have done in years.

As for FF, it will be business as usual as far as I'm concerned. I'm not about to jump in and undo all the great work Si has done. It's a really strong mag and I aim to keep it that way.

Revs was great when Si was in charge, I think it was matt howells or someone like that took over, and it went from a general all performance cars on a budget sort of mag to hideous body kit with glitzy paint and neons sort of mag overnight .... Used to love revs, with the buying guides, stuff like cossies vs supras, pulsar/ ladies only /saxos only track days etc and lots of good tech features etc. Saying that Performance bikes used to be a great mag, but all the old crew left and that went down the drain as well .

I notice you ignored the diesel Dan bit

Good luck with fast ford though, great base to start from ( but no hairdryer powered bodykitted nonsense please )

Ha, I didn't ignore the diesel bit - It kind of speaks for itself! In my defence, someone had put diesel for the generator in a green unleaded can. Plus the car was all converted for banger racing, so the tank was just a little motorbike one. Once we realised what I'd done (after a carb stripdown, and world's fastest headgasket change) it was all cool!

The banger racing was awesome fun! Would love to see the pic again, I've not got any of the old mags. Don't suppose you've got a scanner?

As for Matt Howell, he's a top bloke who's been in the industry for years (Edited Street Machine right back in the day). He was told what direction to take the mag in by the suits, so it's not his faulty as such. By the time he took over the sales had already declined massively, so he was fighting a loosing battle.

Nice to see the Northerners are taking the staff majority at Fast Ford...
Look forward to working with both Dan the new gaffer and seeing Simon back to his roots

PS, Revs was the nuts in the early years... no idea if that's before your time though Dan...?

Honestly, Whiteys shithot and knows his cars (and has got a scary knowlege of THE most random/rare/wierd cars ever), and just bought a ST200 Estate to mod too actually.

Will do a good job on FF methinks, tho notthing really needs changing as its got a good overall thing going anyhow IMO

Right, time to find a really bad pic of whitey...
Spot on that. Can't get a better reccomendation than that really!

I'd like to add a personal congrats to Simon as I think he has REALLY done a great job on turning what lets face it guys was a joke of a mag that we all wouldn't wipe our asses with into something that you REALLY look forward to reading as has been the case with Performance Ford for a long time. The mags are both really good now and we Ford fans are really spoilt for choice! Look at the changes in FastFord... its now a Proper technical mag which is really in touch I think with its public. They are always at the shows, are always getting stuck in themselves and Simon has built a great team of proper ford boys with Neil and Fudge. And Simon getting people like Stu, Mike and Martin reguarly involved was a stroke of genius I think we would all agree

Simon, I salute you mate

Good luck Whitey.

GET YOURSELF ON HERE! the nerve centre of all things Ford

Awesome work Simon. All the best for thr future.
