Default GT30R engine running....little problem...SOLVED!

Hi,

Today i finished my engine, so that i could turn the key to start!

@ Martin, Nice piece of work at the manifolfd part, for the external wastegate. Fits like a glove Thanks!!
Will put some pics up later.

But i do have an idle problem. It will not idle at all
It idles at 500 rpm with up and downs, and after a while it dies.
I've checked the idle valve, and tried another one....same
I also turned the idle screw as far as i could, but the idle rpm is not responding at all. If i unplug the idle valve connector it dies immidiately.

Also did a resistance check at the ( multiplug disconnected) TPS.

Terminals 1&2 Throttle closed 100 Ohm
Terminals 1&2 Throttle fully open 480 Ohm
Terminals 2&3 Throttle closed 420 Ohm
Terminals 2&3 Throttle fully open 86 Ohm

At the moment i have no idea where to look at.

Anybody has an idea????

Regards,

Bas

I assume you have bolted on a manifold and a large turbo but have not yet had a remap ????

If so...

You have upset the air flow of the engine which is not able to be
measured by the ecu so it is not set up correctly.
Also, dont drive it hard on boost as you will melt it as your engine will
consume more air without adding extra fuel.

I'm using a 4WD inlet manfold with spacer and a std 2WD exhaust manifold.

I can not imagine that this is disturbing the idle that much. Also the idle screw does not respond at all.

I know that it's consuming more air but not that much on idle. And off course i will not boost it, that will definitely destroy the engine.
There will be a aftermarket stand alone system in the car soon, but first i want to settle the idle problem.
If i rev at about 1000 rpm, the engine is running great, but if i let go the throttle, it dies.

sure you aint got an air leak on the inlet?
Map sensor pipe conncted? all the others blocked off or used?

that will make it do what you describe??

its probably something more simple than you think mate.

good luck,

Already measured both temp sensors ( air and water) , and both are fine

If i would had an air leak then the idle would rev up and not down.
Map sensor is connected, and all the other ones are used ( fuel pressure regulator, blow off valve , boost controller)

*From T35 .63 TO GT30R.
*From 2wd inlet manifold TO 4wd inlet manifold
*Pistons
*Inlet Cam
*Ported head
*Double valve springs

I'm using the same throttle body as before.....just a std 2wd one.

Already had changed ALL the sensors a year ago, and was running great on greys at 28 PSI.

I doubt it would give the problems he is having... we are talking at idle.

What happens if you screw the throttle stop open a little more?

You mean the idle screw?

If so, i allready I turned the idle screw as far as i could in and out, but the idle doesn't react at all

That's the air screw, if you remove it the car would idle real fast. I am thinking of the throttle stop screw which holds the throttle open.

Could it be that you are trying to adjust the idle with the idle valve plugged in.

Not too sure if you can change the idle with it on, just know i have always been told to set it with it un-plugged

Solved

Because of the new set-up i think the idle valve was just a little bit out of his range.

But after screwing the throttle stop open a little more it didn't die anymore, and the idle valve is back in his range.

Thanks Martin!! Such a simple solution after all.

But the engine still wasn't running smooth at idle. But after some timing changes of the cams, it idle very nice now!

Bas

After all, it was a simple fix yes

Pictures are crap, made by a phone, but want to let you see, how the external wastegate fits. Perfect fit from Martin.

Maybe. But first i want to make the car ready for the MOT.

There is more space then you think between the battery and the rest

@ Coskev,

I'm also looking forward to it. But first the MOT, then putting in the aftermarket system. Driving in the engine properly and mapping it.
