Default head gasket options discuss

right im going to be puting a new cylinder head on my car soon and wanting to know what peoples thoughts are on head gaskets?

im running a cometic multilayer at moment with no issues(due to getting block face cleaned up in machine shop and fresh skim on head)

group a gasket is out due to not removing block(ie wont be wire ringing it)

wrc gasket is nearly £400 so thats out

but im unsure about getting another cometic just incase it doesnt seal properly first time,as i had issues with this the first time round, then when rebuilt engine i bought what was an apparently a new spec cometic gasket,

i keep reading about LATEST,SPECIAL 4 LAYER,etc etc from cometic

also does anyone run a mountune gasket?are these any good

ps its a long studded 200 block

When I asked about running over 400 on a Group A on here everyone shyed (sp) away from it!? You may have even posted on the thread saying don't do it!?

Even though, I don't know of anyone that runs much more than a genuine 400bhp on a Grp A, i.e. the YBP011 or whatever it is!?

my mates stage 1 would do 5k of hard work and knackered. my old stage 3 saph with previous owner was only doing about the same and failing. and my last saph did 7k of hard work and was shot overheating and pressurizing. as far as im aware group a was 270 hp rally headgasket so for me anything over stage 1 and group a not man enough. and thats from my experiences and cars ive known.
ive never personally seen a wire wrung engine last more than 5 minutes either but think that may have been down to the tuner think he was called rallye spares in eye thorney.
