Default URGENT CR QUERY

My brother and I are building a new CVH turbo motor up and we're running it on steel rods with Accralite pistons. Machine shop want to know whether we want to skim the piston. Standard CR is 8.3:1 and these at present are 8.0:1.

Advice needed as we don't want to get this wrong as it could prove expensive

are you wanting to stay with 8.0? or drop to something like 7.8?

This is what we aren't sure about. Car will be running on Omex 600 ECU so we won't have any OFAB issues to deal with.

hmmm, im a fan of 7.8 as its not that far off standard and can still take say 20 ish psi.

however if you think you can get away with 8.0 and boost isn't mental and the cooling and fuel's good it should be ok, i dont know anyone who's done it though im afraid just speaking from what i know about the cvh itself.

hope its of help

What turbo are you running and how much power are you hoping for?

Id dry build it first too and not make assumptions on what you *think* the CR is now, as headwork to the chambers will change it as well skimming.

I cant imagine squish is *that* important on a CVH either so a thicker gasket is another option.
