If you've paid for it it should or you should be asking for your money back!

They shouldn't even be offering services like Special Delivery at the moment if they can't guarantee it, that is why you pay extra for it! I'm waiting for a load of stuff and want to post stuff as well. Pain in the arse, it's not like it's going to get them anywhere anyway, just piss everyone off!

A Special Delivery will get to you the next working day, providing it was sent before 6pm the previous day. It is guarnanteed but, if there are strikes on (none till tuesday) then it will probarly still get delivered by the people who do go into work but not strike.

If it was sent yesterday, then you will have it by 1pm

I went to post something special delivery on Monday but the local post office refused to take any post due to the strike - which was a local decision by them in an attempt to mitigate the effect of the huge volume of stuff backloged - sensible idea if you ask me

Special Deliveries are still getting thru, the only difference is that they arn't guaranted that they will be delivered before 1pm (On a Strike Day)...

Re: them leaving a card, believe me mate it's easier to actually deliver the fukkin thing than take it back, so without without sounding like i'm being patronising, make sure your door bell works (you would not believe the amount that dont), don't sit with your Stereo/Radio/TV up so you cant here them knocking (again happens on a regular basis)...

Always amazes me how many people claim that the postman never even knock. As Gtechr said, it is ALOT easier to just deliver it than filling out a card otherwise you end up carrying round with you untill you go back to the office.

Watch him, if he don`t knock, then bat him...

Your mate is talking bollox, I get 3 weeks and i'm full time, you have an option to purchase a 4th week (as in have money deducted from your wage to pay for it) But I dont personally take that.

Another fantasy, i'm sure people watch postman pat and think thats what it's like in real life

No, I hate to admit it but i am a postie. You get 3 weeks a year plus a couple of days at xmas and bank holidays. Posties can purchase annual leave at their own expense.

P.S Please don`t brand me a cunt, lazy fuck, or can`t be bothered because i like others (not all) do work hard, and i actually go to the trouble of doing my job properly and will only leave a card as a last resort.

I get 13 weeks as a postie! But its only beacause we work 6 days a week for 5 weeks then have a week off(banking a day a week)! Where as other offices have a day off in the week, so only work 5 days!

I do think the whole strike thing is bollox tho....

They go on strike, something about pay I mean who IS happy with what they get paid? No matter how much you get paid, we all want more

anyway, they come back off strike, then moan about how much backlog of post there is to deliver Then say they might strike again Monday if something isn't done to help clear the backlog

i heard on the radio the other morning someone saying that people are in "real hardship" during the postal strike as they "may not get their passports through before going on holiday"

if they were suffering real hardship, they wouldn't be able to go on holiday. we have it very easy in this country, which is a good thing, but let's not get complacent about it. real hardship is not having food to eat as the crop has been ruined by a flood or something like that

That might be so, but at the same time, if you have booked up a holiday and then it gets ruined cos the posties gone on strike and your passport hasn't been delivered in time, you think you might be entitled to be pissed off?

I think postal strikes are a complete pisstake and bang out of order. It's the man in the street that gets fucked by it - passports not turning up on time for example, bills arriving late so you get fined, concert tickets arrive late, so you miss a concert you paid a lot of money for, etc etc...

Fuk sake... How many more times? It's NOT about the pay. It's the terms and conditions attached to the pay offer, that means in real term some Guys will actually end up with less money than they are on now and working longer for the privilege. And then there is the entire Pensions fiasco...

Never siad I was an expert chap - but being an "outsider" I can only go on what the news reports say : and the ones I heard said it was about pay....

Either way it's still a cuntish thing to do, and the only people it hurts are the customers who don't get their childs birthday present on time, or that all important piece of mail thats delivered AFTER the deadline because their delivery guy was on strike sitting at home with his feet up.....

Be fucking good if the ambulance staff decided to strike and people were dying cos no-one bothered to come pick them up at the scene of an accident wouldn't it? Or your house burnt to the ground cos the fire brigade went on strike... Or you couldn't get to work cos London Underground went on strike - oh no wait, thats a good thing
