ginge you obvously know soo much about rollcages why dont you open you own place
or just become an advisor for the fia
the evo8 mr 340 saved something like 4 kilos on the roof over the prevous evo and it apparently makes a huge difference on handling.
and if ams are making it even lighter can only really be better

anyway 4 kilos saving fom aroof skin,,,or the actual roof im talking about !!!

skin and roof are TOTALLY different

UNLESS you actually understand what im talking about i think making jokes in replysjust shows what a fool you are

so lets get back to this again, remove 5kg of roof skin, fit 1kg carbon skin and BOND it in place,,,, then fit 25kg of roll cage tubing below it

improvement on weight from standard is ????

i know the sunroof isalso taken out,, but thats gonna be gone ANYWAY !!

so the ACTUAL ADVATAGE is ?????

the DISADVANTAGE NOW,,,, roof not made well, bonding not done, chemicals in washing a car ect can cause the kevlar to weaken, the actual suns UV rays will also weaken the kevlar and considering the roof will get the sun a little bit,,,,, well hop you can see the potential issues

that doubled with the price of PROPER carbon dueto the boeing airbus being made of it


well IMO i cant see the real good points

but i guess YOU knew all this about carbon am i right ???

well you must have to comment about me being a idiot who just cause he knows about this he MUST open up a business and work with roll cages/carbon EVEN THOUGH I DONT WANT TO DO THAT

or maybe its cause i have a job in enjoy,, one that I chose to do and get up in the morning looking forward to doing it

steve close, iworkfor acompany who make parts for cars and supply them motorfactors aswell as other companies who sell them to motor factors

i USED to work at fords, i left and went to another place and went from dealing with people to dealing with our manufacturers and learn new things every day

hence why i comented about other ways of thinking

steve,, you also learn alotof stuff and question things,,,,has ANYTHING i said been bollox or made up ???

thats great i enjoy my job aswell
so anyway the roll cage is in the car already and it ain't coming out like he said.mag wouldn't pass scruteneering for what ever he wants to use the car for anyway...
its not as much to do with the actual weight saving its where its saved .

hes idea is spot on and i agree with it to a point

just feel its the only idea for him to look into

i wasnt

im about to fit another engine to the bmw but the reason for it is its going to cost me less than buying a saph cossie and then worrying about it and cant find a car for 5k i actually like to drive

so gonna stick the engine in my bmw cause i KNOW its a solid car and its just gone through a mot and its got a solid shell

i do things that make sence i guess,,, dont want more than 5k wasted on a car and cant decide what i can get that will be over 350bhp

if you know of a car thats solid, well built and over 350bhp with no problems for 5k then tell me about it

btw i aint knocking hes idea as its hes choice and i agree with him doign what makes him happy

just trying to play devils advocate incase it aint as good as he may think it is

bit like a rwd space framed escort i guess,, nice idea in the pukka work going into it

when done may not be a good idea for the cash invested

oh my best mate thinks im mad for doing a conversion on a car that old, he belives that a car should reflect image and not worry about speed

he paied 11k for hes clk 320,,,,,, nice car and is reasonably fast,, but fuck me its boring

genuinly i aint got a clue,,, got LOADS of ideas about it but aint totally sure if that makes sence

guess its due to what happened to my car,, dont know but instead of buying loads of parts then fitting it im getting the cash together then decide and then drop the car off and get it all done in one hit

doubt ill even be doing the work tbh as i aint got time to do it

but every week ive got a new idea,, every week i end up spending some of the cash and never make my mind up

was about to buy a scooby 3 weeks ago as the bmw had a hicup, but then i thought "fuck it" and sorted the issues and gonna carry on using it till im sure

im also tempted to buy a flat with my mate to rent out,,, thats how much im not sure
