the evo8 mr 340 saved something like 4 kilos on the roof over the prevous evo and it apparently makes a huge difference on handling.

so lets get back to this again, remove 5kg of roof skin, fit 1kg carbon skin and BOND it in place,,,, then fit 25kg of roll cage tubing below it

the DISADVANTAGE NOW,,,, roof not made well, bonding not done, chemicals in washing a car ect can cause the kevlar to weaken, the actual suns UV rays will also weaken the kevlar and considering the roof will get the sun a little bit,,,,, well hop you can see the potential issues
that doubled with the price of PROPER carbon dueto the boeing airbus being made of it

i USED to work at fords, i left and went to another place and went from dealing with people to dealing with our manufacturers and learn new things every day
hence why i comented about other ways of thinking

thats great i enjoy my job aswell
so anyway the roll cage is in the car already and it ain't coming out like he said.mag wouldn't pass scruteneering for what ever he wants to use the car for anyway...
its not as much to do with the actual weight saving its where its saved .

i wasnt
im about to fit another engine to the bmw but the reason for it is its going to cost me less than buying a saph cossie and then worrying about it and cant find a car for 5k i actually like to drive
so gonna stick the engine in my bmw cause i KNOW its a solid car and its just gone through a mot and its got a solid shell
i do things that make sence i guess,,, dont want more than 5k wasted on a car and cant decide what i can get that will be over 350bhp
if you know of a car thats solid, well built and over 350bhp with no problems for 5k then tell me about it
btw i aint knocking hes idea as its hes choice and i agree with him doign what makes him happy
just trying to play devils advocate incase it aint as good as he may think it is
bit like a rwd space framed escort i guess,, nice idea in the pukka work going into it
when done may not be a good idea for the cash invested
