Default Phone lines in the house

Are they like power in that you can connect the wires directly together to extend?

I need to put a phone point in a bedroom and plan to run the line behind the walls. It looks like I can take the existing phone point out and then connect the new line on top of the existing one, run the line and put on a new fitting in the bedroom. I can't see why this wouldn't work..............

thanks

Paul.

absolutly correct

all you have to do is not exceed 4 ren or something, so it limits the amount of devices you can hook up really

yeh just connect no 2 and no5. if the new socket is an extension not a master then u'll have to connect the bell wire for it to ring (no3)

You need 4 core cable. And you conect 2,3,4 and 5 together, and that sorts u out with another phone line.

I used LAN cable (1000mb/sec stuff ) when I rewired our house for the phones last year, perfect connection to the net is assured with no loss of bandwidth via the DSL line due to dodgy house phone cables

All that was renewed when the exchange was upgraded 4 years ago according to a BT engineer, and only living about half a mile from the exchange there aint much cable

I wouldn't be surprised but we've had no problems at all since the work was done, before the exchange went digital we had no end of problems with crossed lines and dropped calls and dead internet
