This is the first one my girlfriend was on, she was on 2 a day. Its only meant for short term treatment as long term it can have some fairly serious side effects (the doctor declined to tell us what). He eventually moved her onto peroxitine which is a lot safer and she can stay on that for as long as she likes.

The doctor told her no more than a few months, but what you've said above, sounds like she was on a higher dose than you. I think 6 months is about right, but if you do need tablets longer, I would speak to the doctor about going on something else.
Hope everything works out, I know what it was like for my girlfriend and its not nice at all.
She's just mentioned that Fluoxetine is also addictive. She said she really struggled for about 2 weeks when she came off it so it might be worth your while to switch sooner rather than later.

An ex of mine was on Fluxotine, Seroxat/Peroxitine.
She was a fucking psycho. Tried to stab me once because she couldnt do her hair.

Righto, my misss suffered anxiety which was why she was on the tablets. I don't know anything about SAD, but all I can say about Fluoxetine is speak to your doctor and ask about long term health risks.

So Personally I don't think any "normal" doctor is qualified to prescribe them and recommend you seek advice from a pucker psychiatrist (that's a private one which costs > Ł90 per hour
) . It may be that you need one to one sessions as well as taking the pills to gain the proper effect....

iam on this shit now.been trying to kill myself so the doc put me back on this.tell you only need a couple of cans then im pissed.tablets have not sorted me out ,just ade me worse .well fucked up now

people don't seem to know what they are on about here.
Fluoxetine is a mild recepter gatway blocker you should take it for a min of 3 months as its effects may not kick in till 6 weeks.
you should not take it if you a bi poler that will fook you if you do big time.
its very safe and it works very well from mild to quite haevy depression and it a sertonin contoller.
it does have side effects you can feel quite odd about week 4 to 6 as the brain rebalances and some times it makes girls very very horny, but they cannot come.
