Thats the same sort of tyre as rod uses on the back? D01Js or something.

Well as good a starting point as any i guess as you would think pretty tested? Is there a tyre pressure issue such as going out with it at 30psi cold then it mega heating???? Dont know anything about tyres but would be good to hear some ideas for making it safer in the future.

Thats true but on advice from Dunlop Motorsport changed to their RR1 tyre rated at 186mph for 5th gear shot. They said the DO1J was not Topspeed rated. Must get this into perspective though, I personally did 3 laps of Brunters without stopping to cool the tyres on the DO1J 197.3, 199.8 & 201.3 must admit didnt check how hot the tyres got but that set of Dunlops did around 10 runs at circa 200mph without problems & are still on the car now .
We ran pressures between 38/42psi.

Not good but at least Martin was able to hold it together (god knows how) and the car is mostly undamaged.

42 psi cold would probably = 60+ psi if u were circuit driving on road tyres, once they were hot.

I'd be looking into the temps and pressures they build to at extreme speed.

Lucky escape

Fookin hell !

Thats enough damage to have to sort although it could of very nearly been a tragedy.

What was your estimated power on the day Martin ?

Did you get any sprint times in or are we having to wait for the magazine to come out ?

are people using nitrogen filled tyres for this type of run?
As I planned to next time, just wondering whether the makers recommend it?

Nitrogen inflation is, in my opinion a very good idea. Far less affected by heat and far more consistent.

Sorry to hear this but I suppose we all take similar risk when we pelt down the M1, M6, M25, A127 at 1** + mph..

Glad you are safe mate.

Hope to see you back on track soon.

Glad to hear you escaped unhurt, but sad to see your car like that

Also glad to hear you didn't end up like Big Ad when he crashed his on his top speed run, he's still got more surgery to go through after breaking his back.

Its bad considering how mint the car was, but this gives a good idea of the damage.

Look at the car from the other side and it looks perfect still, shame its not

Look at the tyre sidewalls, still holding the car up perfectly, they really helped save the day.
