im a member of the AA, pay about £80 annually
other night my mate crashed his car and was not drivable but still on 4 wheels on the roadside.
the AA would not pick us up as they dont cover accidents and they only offered us upto 5 mile tow to the nearest garage and at an extra cost of £100.
are all breakdown recoveries the same as this?
if i was to be involved in an accident i would like the car, me and my family towed home at least

I think I was told the AA would recover accident cars about 2 years ago as was one of my reasons for joining, hope this has not changed.

AA dont cover you in an accident But supposedly RAC do regardless of whose fault it is. Said they'll come and recover you car in an accident after i asked them about 10 times to confirm before signing up.

Hope they dont screw me, if it comes down to it

Hope this helps, copied from AA website: General Terms and Conditions:

Assistance is not available following a breakdown or accident attended by the police or other emergency service, until the vehicle's removal is authorised. If the police insist on recovery by a third party, the cost must be met by you.
No recovery (including a local tow) is available following an accident;

cheers
Dave

I've used AA for 4 years, but since moved to RAC for last 3 years.

RAC is alot better.

Not called them out for 2 years, but when i have the wait time and service is 100% better than AA.
