not if you're just going to suck in hot air.
so the plastic box is actually good at keeping hot air out?
yes - if it's fitted with the proper ducting that takes a cold air feed from the front grille (which is quite small and could be restrictive at higher than standard power)

personally, i would cut out the bottom of the box and a corresponding hole in the inner wing (with additional coarse filtration and water trapping measures) and use the high pressure air in the wheel arch to feed the panel filter with a large opening to that area from the front bumper

This one does . However, if you had looked at my website you would have seen that .

Also, how about this to help spice up the engine bay?

Not yet I discovered that there is something pulling my cambelt onto the front edge of the pulleys and fraying the edge of it on the crank pulley so until that is sorted I can't drive it

Yes, AVA and it reduced the vaccum that was being created in Euan's airbox until he started to up the boost even more, and then the lid still started to collapse, so this is why he made his airbox bigger.
Mike is right...the lid of my box used to get sucked down until we cut the FULL fron off the bottom of the box.

Only thing we notced after doing this was that alot of radiant heat was now being sucked in from the back o fthe rad.

We blocked up the orginal square inatke in the box and made a sheild to stop this and bonded it to the back of the head light..
