Default The norris evo with its skyline box (shh its a secret)

Got reminded by mention of evo's in the post about martins cossie at coombe, anyone know what's happening with the steering rack and steering arms on the norris evo to allow it to sit with the transverse engien on its new skyline box setup, as ive not seen anything posted online about it yet?

Potentially a good way to ruin the dynamics of the car if its not done right of course but obvioulsy Simon's not exactly building it on a budget so Im sure Hauser will have enough scope to get it spot on.

Should cure his problems coming off the line consistantly hopefully

I agree with that. The most interesting part of the conversion will be what's done with mounting the front diff/sump/driveshafts, the rest is easy.

Yeah it will be interesting to see how he goes about doing that but personally its the steering side of it im looking forward to seeing how he tackles as surely the rack will have to be moved and hence the front struts will need new steering arms etc?

Not like he can just swap them side to side to bring the arms forward as it would horrifically alter the ackerman angles if he does that.

Do you mean that drift cat Stavros posted a pic of? the engine was the proper way around for RWD though, I think they're on about Norris keeping it transverse

eh?

How could it be transverse on a skyline box?

Jun's is just RWD AFAIK, and they don't care about the ackerman angles as its only made to go slideways

It is only RWD but why would that mean ackerman dont matter? Its got 20mph skids in a carpark, its 120mph+ stuff, many of the top cars can lap Tsukuba in under 1minute, suspension geometry etc will be just as if not more so important as ever.

From what i've seen it was a drift car, by no means does it mean ackerman doesn't matter. But they run very wierd and wonderful setup's anyway.

I assume that March figure isnt much to do with how long Hauser take to do the skyline conversion and is far more about other stuff he is doing as well?

Going to be a properly fruity car at the end of this, cant wait to see it go, it was mental enough to begin with!

Err, RWD conversions, 4wd conversions, floorpan swaps, etc etc, were always allowed in Time Attack.

Spaceframing wasnt...

It was false economy though - pushing so hard for an 8 second pass when the car needed a hollinger dog box and there was a 4 month lead time on them.

Glebe boxes just weren't up to it
