The point of the register is so that authority's such as the police can keep track of the moments of such offenders, it also allows checks to be made by educational services regarding if someone is suitable to work with children.

in the usa they actually print in the local papers who has done what and where they live!
when i stayed at my boss's house out there there was a paper and there was a bloke living just a matter of houses down the road that had been done for rape and bodily assault.

but there was loads of peado's in there and murders etc.

I agree with the sentiment above for single mothers to check out prospective partners criminal records. BUT I think everyone should be able to do it.

It annoys me when Liberal namby pamby fuckwits quote human rights rules to prevent it happening because it impedes people's civil liberties etc. What about the human rights and civil liberties of all of the victims? Or those of us that that want to live in a safe environment without our own civil liberties being affected?

Maybe they should lock the fucker up if they know who he is and he keeps doing it. Didn't he used to make clothes fo pikeys and does he live next door to banana man?

As a parent I would like to know who lives in my area but I can see why they don't because some people are stupid.

Also someone could be on the child sex offenders register and not really be a danger to children.

i suppose, a guy i went to school with got put on it for shagging a 15year old when he was 13 but she didnt want him charged it was cos of her granny or summin, they kicked it off again when they left school aswell

See people just assum if someone is on the sex offenders register they must be some kind of child rapist it's silly.

A friend of mine has been registered as a sex offender he was charged with sexual assult on a minor. He got on a night bus at 3am met a girl on there all dressed up they chatted snogged, got a bit groppy. She gave him her real phone number and got off the bus. Later the police come knocking turns out she's 14 and he'd touched her! Bus driver confirmed that there had been some touching.

He now a child sex offender!
