I still have three chassis and 4 or 5 engines, including one ex-Jenson Button Kart that I purchased off him back in the early 90s when we raced together.

Friend of mine bought a Kart. Dunno much about it other than its a 125 and it says Tony Kart on the sidepods

Ive had probably about 15 mins in it. Shame I was closing to his lap times after he'd had probably 18 hours in it But its a real blast. He goes to a outdoor track in Essex and pays Ł10 (maybe Ł20) for a days open pit lane non timed event.

Its not horrendously expensive to do and most of the other guys are helpful and give advice. So as long as you dont want to actually race its OK. If you do prepare to sell everything

EDIT

Name dropper Im sorry to say though Rich. But unlike a ex-Lewis Hamilton one. A Jenson one aint worth anything.

Yeah, he had a few karts Pops! Used to roll up in a lorry with a service crew, when we all turned up with a trailer being towed by a Ford Granada!

Rich - as Nick says, I'm holding onto it, in case he gets a decent drive!

Two guys locked together in front of me, and I hit em nearly flat out, launched into the air, got thrown out, and smashed myself to pieces!

In hospital for quite a while after that one!

me and my brother in law used to go together ( he had an old parilla at the time, big carb ) anyway i had a few serberts the night before so deciding not to take mine that day and thought id go just to have a play on his. anyway his mate came with him , went round a few times and just before i got there he did the what peddle is the brake thing just after the staight coming into the hairpin and dug in and went completly sideways over the fence and landed up the right way ( fence must me getting on and 4 an half ft ) said he was ok. but took 2 weeks off work because of sore nuts

Thats the one. I grant you its not super smooth, but its perfectly useable. The only really bumpy bit is in the chicane before you go on to the main straight.

Does anyone know why Kart racers seem to put their hand over the engine whilst racing?
I think it's something to do wtih covering the carb to richen the mixture or something, just wondering

I'm an ex Pro Karter...loved it....used to race alot with Club 100 all over the place. Now I've moved away I run my own "mini" series in Finland..using both indoor and outdoor kart tracks (Mika Salo Track etc). Just for friends and family..we have a great time...really miss the full time racing though....that and the saloon car racing

Usually only do it when at the end of a straight and going into a low speed corner. It draws more fuel into the engine giving a better pull out the corner only do it on 100cc engines
