I paid 4k for my MKII RS2000 , it is a good clean solid honest car , 46000 miles , 3 owners last owner had it 23 years , not a lot of history (the chap who owned it had his own garage) not a concours car but clean ,
pay less than 3k and i would say you are buying a car that will need work but will be clean (ish)
5-6k and you are looking towards the lower end concours cars

4k for mine as well, like Gaz says, any less and you ll be looking at work to do on it. You might be lucky and get a solid shell but most people that have them know what they re worth
And Welcome back

Gooey, that looks gorgeous, I wanna spend Ł4-7 k, I don't want a rally car as I can see mysŁlf going down the rally routŁ agŁin and that's Łxpensive! Can I use an English axle for the road,I had a fully floating atlas (Ł3250 from Gartrac) in the last, but I don't wanna spend the money on that again, can you still go sideways and stuff reliably with an English?

Well Im still on the origional axle and it certainly goes sideways even if sometimes it needs a bit of provoking
In the dry it grips, the wet will slide everywhere and in the snow is just suicidal.
Having said that, Im now in the process of picking up a diff from a 1.3 Escort as the Box I ve just put in has made the gearing really tall and I cant launch it for shit

I didnt buy mine for 4k like that either, took me a year so far and almost twice what I bought it for to get it like it is.
4k will get you one with the carbs and bits on if you look hard enough

If you want to take on a "project" then be warned !!!!!
Take a look at how my car looked taking part in concours before I rebuilt it !!!
www.rs2000custom.co.uk
And my saying "all that shines is not rustfree" still stands with a lot of MKII's out there !
Tread carefully and check the shells properly
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Gaz i do love it but am thinking of building a Locost kit car etc
Everything is for sale at the right price and remember i paid less than 3k for mine with all the head work , Twin 45s Carbs , Cams , Diffs , Box , Brand New Zaust , etc
So the right price she will go
