this is the vid of the run-up to the x-games. Watched it on a FMX dvd a couple of years ago. I think he broke a Rib/ankle or something on one of the last crashes, but still landed it.

It's a much lower level of skill involved, and far less daring.

Having said that, I've seen some sort of "no hander" superman seat grabs that have been pretty close to being complete misses!

I would have to disagree mate. A back flip is literally 90% reliant on weight transfer, and wide open throttle as you hit the lip. All you really have to do is keep it straight for landing. Obviously with a double backflip, the bikes are on full throttle, to keep the gyroscopic rotation from the rear wheel, and i can imagine its a bastard to land.

VISUALLY, i think the backflip is a cack trip, and a superman, cliffhanger, candybar, NOTHING, is much more impressive to look at. They look a lot more smooth/flowy compared to a backflip. Have a look and you'll see what i mean.

I just think the double is the skateboard equivalent of the 900. Not many people can still do it after it was landed, so it scores maximum on the difficulty stakes.

Also, with the double, you're properly taking your life in your hands there.

yeah deffo. I know what your saying. In technical terms, the double backflip is something that sounds impossible, especially when you think of how heavy the bikes are too. Just visually, it looks messy to me, and unnatural. Hard to explain really. Its like BMX and double backflips, the spin is too quick, then as soon as they hit the landing, it slows the bike down immediately like they have slammed the brakes on.

Agree about the BMX double. It looks far too contrived, whereas a backflip tailwhip still looks amazing every time I see it!
