There were atually TWO of the cars there..both belonging to the same woman apparently. The 1st "test" car had it's brakes replaced after the runs as they were a bit shot...much cheapness at Ł35,000 !!!!!

The race was 1 mile down the runway, Typhoon 1 mile UP and back down whilst Bugatti turned round, then 1 mile back to the finish line.
The Typhoon kept spanking the Veyron's arse and they had to cool it off so the race looked closer for the camera's according to the one person I've asked..altho unconfrmed. They said in the early runs it was easily beating the Bugatti. So don't believe everythnig you see....

Anyway..Skoda or not it's a fabulous piece of engineering that no-one on here could even think of building, has the money to do or probably own.
Why's it irrelevant? Just because it's a race between two things that would never normally race each other. It's a way to show how quick both the jet and the cars are. People may see the jets flying around and not realise how quick they are as they have nothing to compare it to, in the same way no-one has seen cars this quick to say "fook me, that's fast!".
Veyron against a 'real' skoda wouldn't prove much would it ?
It's called entertainment. Doesn't matter whether it proves anything or not in the end. It's a fast car up against a very fast jet.

Yes but skoda's were winning many races before the bug was even thought of.
As a technical expense thing the bug has it licked, no one else could spend so much money on development, and building the cars that were only a fraction faster in real terms than the daddy car the maccy f1.
For all the development and money that went into these I am not impressed by the results, compared to years older technology on the f1.
I just can't see why TG can't have more relevant stuff, the mag is crap as well, if not full of ads, it is full of cars most will only ever be able to think about.

Not even the fact your stripped out carbon fibre everything Macca F1 can be fooked by something weighing over 2 tonnes and has the comfort of full leather and air con isn't impressive either?
What kind of performance would impress you? A trip round Mars in under 3 seconds?

That's the whole appeal of the show. Seeing cars that you wouldn't normally get even a brief glimpse of normally, never mind driven round a track and show some comparison of speed and handling.
If the show was full of new family cars showing how many carrier bags of food you can get in the boot plus pram then it would lose it's appeal very quickly, lose ratings, lose money adn then it wouldn't be on. These cars bring in viewers and revenue and are ENTERTAINMENT.
as for the mag, not seen it but if you don't like it..don't buy it. I don't know ANY magazines that aren't fully or partially funded by adverts. Car mags, womens maghs, lads mags, kids mags, cookery...you name it, it will have adverts in.
