I wouldn't have a problem with it....a plane crashed in thailand the other day....are you going to stop going on holiday?

I wouldn't want to fly every day though...as you increase your risk a bit by always being there!

Can't live your life worrying about crashing...we're all going to die one day.

I've been in one flying down the Thames in close formation with another. Was a bit nervous at first as it was the 1st time I'd been in one.

The only heli I wouldn't want to go in is a Chinook.

True. If your number's up, that will be that no matter in what type of machine you're in (land, air or sea). Nevertheless I think I wouldn't go in one mainly because I'm not the least fascinated by helicopters or planes.

But it's different being put off by your bad experience...than being put off by somebody you haven't mets bad experience.

If I was persistantly involved in car crashes...I dare say I'd worry about being in a car...but if lots of other people crash...it hasn't been me yet so I'll continue. It's safer than walking anyway.

They'll never say how many safe helicopter/plane/car journeys happen successfully...they only tell you when people die...such is life.

I have only ever been in a Sea King and it felt as safe as houses... I remember years ago those air cadets who crashed in that Wessex helicopter into that lake in Wales which was captured on camera... not good.

I wouldn't mind, at the end of the day you just need to look at statistics... many many more people die in car accidents per mile travelled (or whatever the yardstick is) than any other means of transport in the UK, so all in all, helicopter flying is very safe, and I suspect a helicopter MOT is somewhat more involved than a car one.

PMSL at "Quick Release Co-Pilot seat" one of the helicopters for sale here http://www.rcr-aviation.com/stock.htm, is that so you can chuck the copilot our easily if he/she has a smelly fart

What scares me of flying is the 2mins or so of plummeting to earth at 500odd mph!!! Screaming then having to take a breath then screaming again like in Bill and Ted when there falling to hell!!

I fookin hate flyin! At least if something goes wrong in a car and your gonna crash you got a little chance. I a plane or heli goes wrong......you betta kiss your ass goodbye!

That's a small exageration surely

I was told once that it is possible to softly crash land a helicopter which lost power by putting the rotor blades in "reverse" just before crashing to effectively create lift from the fall

Your throat might ache before you hit the ground with all that screaming.
Mind you, the brown deposit in your trousers would help cushion the blow

If its meant to be , Its meant to be!

I know its harsh, but if it crashes, it crashes... shit happens!
