Is it a RINGER/STOLEN Escos????
I went to look at a escos for sale on wednesday, and liked what i saw, seemed a really nice car,
So last night my husbund came to view the car with me,
It is a 1994 escos, at first he thought what a clean car, NO rust anywhere, 47k on the clock.... then he checked the VIN plate under the bonnet and noticed it had be taken off and put on again... so he went to check the Chasis number by the drivers seat and it was RUSTED, now there is not rust anywhere else on the car... so he looked underneath and has seen its been resealed... he flatted the chasis number down and it matched but its not straight... my husbund says he thinks its been heated up and re-stammped, and engine number has been re-stamped....
Also the slam panel has the date stamp 1995, but the car was registered 1994 and the wings are original...
So i assume the car has been re-id
Is it a stolen car???

If the Vin plates been off- maybe is it crash repaired or re painted? How does he knows its been off?
To be honest as with any car if you're not sure then dont buy it. So you've walked away- now go and look at some more which are good.
NO ONE on here will be able to tell you if its a ringer- just offer speculation.

Haven't seen under an Escos bonnet, but if the Vin plate is riveted to the slam panel maybe it's had a minor front crunch and someone has fited a 95 slam panel and refixed the valid Vin back on it.
