Anyone got/had a 2.0 mk1 focus? or know anything about them
If so can you give me your opinions on them please
Looking to get a 2.0 ghia saloon at the end of the year to replace my escort so would like to know abit about them...
Fancy a saloon as theyre diferent to the usual hatchbacks (and cheaper )
Performance? Parkers says 128bhp 131lb/ft 0-60 in 9 and 125mph so quicker than my escort
Thirsty?
Any problems?
What to look out for?
Thanks
Chris

Lots of driveshaft failures, rust on doors, central locking problems, failing air-con cores, etc... standard Ford quality.
It's not a fast car in a straight line, but brilliant chassis though!

Check the booth for water and around the passenger foot well. They have problems with water leaks especially in the booth. Some are so bad i think you got a goldfish as an optional extra

I brought my missus a 99 T 2.0 Ghia 5dr last year, 64k with full history. The biggest issue is the fuel consumption, averaging about 22 -25mpg just knocking about town.
All ive done is a fit a set of Eibach springs, and a set of 17" OZ super T's, along with a K & N induction kit.
It made 145bhp on powerstations rollers recently, which i was well chuffed with !
Best thing about is the handling, 100% better with the eibachs, plus its still comfy enough for my missus to ferry the kids about, shopping etc
All ive replaced maintenance wise is the front anti roll bar drop links (Ł8.00 per side - 30 mins to fit both).
I'd recommend one all day long, just dont expect to run them on pennies !! LOL

Mate the 2.0 ESP is a group 8... I'd imagine thats cheaper than what you have now, let alone if you was to transplant an engine...
Get a focus, you'll not regret it.
