Best thing is, one of my mates who dabbles basically fuck all on FOREX, likes to tell everyone how trading is easy, and makes himself out to be a self proclaimed expert.

He was holding NR having bought at £11 something, convinced it was a nice safe place to put your money.

Needless to say, we haven't stopped giving him griefage all week.

So..

I am prob gonna have a dable tomorrow...

If they get taken over whats the deal..

The way I understand it the shares are bought back at what ever the accepted purchase price is?

So if I buy at £2.00 and the offer is £4.00 I have effectivly doubled my money?

That is far to much reading. So You pay a small amount to buy some stocks. And then what. Say I only want to buy £300 os shares in Northern Rock and thats it. What are the charges after. And If I pull them out can I just close account

Only place I know better that is not subscription or sign-up is www.thisismoney.co.uk

I also have some good news for anyone who has made a loss on their investment.

You can offset your loss against your other income for the year, and therefore claim tax relief.

Ie. you are a higher rate taxpayer (c.£38k+ gross salary) and you have lost £10k on the value of your shares.

You can claim this loss as a reduction of your income, and therefore get the tax back.... which in the above example would be £4,000 rebate!!

This event will fall in the 07/08 tax year, but there is no harm in working out your investment loss now.

I must add that you need to have sold your shares and realised the loss. You cannot just go on the loss per market value while you still hold them.

PM me for further details.
