when would you expect to see a decent rise in the prices? and do you recon they will be worth holding onto in the long term or just good for a quick dabble? Can you see them dropping much further?
And I know you have not got a crystal ball

Saw a few people are interested in them and it will be at a higher price than 180...
Who knows!
Dan, don't bother buying the shares, just buy on an Index. Far easier and quicker mate

And no tax to pay IF you make a gain.
AND it's a leveraged product, so you make far more than you would from buying the shares at their market value. You will lose your money quicker if they went down, but that's the beauty of leverage.
You need the shares to double to double your money if you invest in the traditional way. I can't see them rising to Ł3.50.
Any specific reasons for investing now Porkie? Recent news was 3 hedge funds wanted to break it up and totally screw over the remaining shareholders.....

yes, you can buy different contracts, or just buy the daily and roll it over. You can set stops if want yes.... they will start asking you for margin calls if you get massively offside as well

shit - I forget to close before the market ended with my little Ł16 profit!
They always seem to open higher so that will be a Ł100 lost tomorrow morning then!!

Does the spread betting just work from when you buy them, to the close of day, or can you buy at 11am, wait till 3pm when they might have gone up a couple of %, then get rid, or is it a bet till the market closes?

and you don't have to just do it with northern rock share prices, you can do it on anything.
the trick as i see it is to find something that has quite a small difference between the buy and sell price so that it doesn't take much movement to start generating a win, and something that has a lot of movement during the day - although the big jumps happen at the very beginning of the trading day but are hard to predict if they will be up or down
