Default >>> Buying a plate thats already taken???

Right, i saw my perfect numberplate about 3yrs ago but at the time didn't have 3k to spend on a plate!

BUT 13R

Sinse then it's ben sold.

About year&half ago i used some programme that searched and found which numberplates were registered to what cars. Think mine was on a Merc.

Is there anyway i can get intouch with the owner or with the DVLA to 1) found out if he still owns it or 2) if i could buy it off him??

I really want it!

If you could find it, be prepared to pay mega money, as if i know you wanted it that nad i wouldnt sell for less than 10k

Does a HPI check revil the registered keepers name? Other than that not sure how u would find out. Cant imagine DVLA would tell u.

don't ask him for the plate, ask him for the car
then ask if the plate comes with it when the deal is about to be done
that way you won't have to shell out if he's not going to part with the plate AND you'll know how much he wants for it rather than asking him how much for teh plate and him overinflating his ego by putting another digit on the end of the number

i have found a plate i want but have the same problem, finding the car owner. if the car gets scrapped/written off/stolen do the dvla retain the plate (even if it's a private one or not) and can they then sell it to you if you ask for it?
