Thats not an SRi, its a base model, or it was, its now got a TB'd Accord Type R engine in it on Throttle Bodies.

The guy said they were citreon alloys, but im trying to find out which one, I dont think they are 309 Sri wheels

They deffo not steels?

They look like the 16inch steels you get on larger later Pugs and Shitrons? 406s etc i think?

According to the bloke who owns it, they are alloys.

I agree they look like steels though.

Bloke was NOT an idiot, had built the car from the ground up on the Type R engine etc, so didnt seem the sort who woudl be confused over wheels.

They looked a lot thicker than a normal steel wheel to me when I looked in the holes in them.

they still looked like they are designed to accept hubcaps, so why does it make any difference as to where they come from

theres not alot of difference in weight between some steel wheels and alloys so they are prob just a set of 406 wheels i'd say

His names Sandy nice bloke and knows what hes talking about. Has a real talent at building tb'd pug engines. He can drive too! Are you sure they arent 15in steelies? some of the 106/saxo lot either get then from a citroen van or the vts came with a 15in spare steel wheels so they order a few more. If not 406 came with 15/16in steelies iirc.

Just re-read to say he said it had alloys hmm. sure he wasnt pulling ur leg lol?

Crowds.

Do you know the size of them?

I know my wheels well, but they got me a bit baffed? Defo not 106 rallye, kinda a thinner example of the 309sri wheel?

Must be something quite rare from a Pug 605 or something strange?

Seems a weird thing to say to someone randomly, but its possible he was winding us up.
I dont beleive he would have been mistaken though, he seemed far too bright for that.

The guy is a regular on 106rallye.co.uk. His user name is Sandy309 and the wheels are alloy

Quote from the man himself

''I've just got some Citroen C5 "steels". They are actually alloy and weigh.... wait for it.... 4.76kg each!!

They are 6x15 ET18''

here's a link to a pic of one of these alloys, clearly showing the material thickness

http://www.saxosportsclub.com/copper...57/pos=15.html

Seems that they are cheap to0 at around £120 a set!!!

IMO they pulling your pisser on the weight thing at least.

We recently weighed a 7x15 Dymag MAGNESIUM wheel and that was 5.5kg, so how these weigh under 5 just by being a inch thinner im not sure

That weight of 4.76kg is the same that he quoted us on the day.

Really does seem a VERY weird thing to be making up stories about, especially when he has such an interesting car to talk about anyway and doesnt need to make up whacky tales of fake steels that are actually real steels, lol

He seemed very genuine, I have no reason not to believe him.

Altho magnesium alloy is itself a lot lighter than aluminium you need a lot more of it to make it as strong....

I had a magnesium alloy bike for a few brief months.......after the 4th replacement fram I gave up

Id like to weigh one.

We used a fookin 'spensive scales too, so 4.76kg is nuts.

The Dymag was the only mag wheel, others were alloy, but all well above 5kg in the 15inch models.

Wasn't a 'kirk' magnesium bike with the raised chainstays by any chance?

Buy one with Future funds then, at 28 quid its hardly expensive and it would make an interesting part of an article IMHO

Not when we have already done a big lightweight wheel guide a few issues ago.

Interesting all the same though, even if they weigh as much as most 6x16s, they cheap and sleeperish.
