Remeber both of those.
Kickstart music was class Dougie Lampkin was the "junior" star at that time. Still a champion rider I believe nowadays.

Another one was Superchamps

Used to be teams from Scotland, England, Wales & NI. Racing against each other on quads, hovercraft etc

I auditioned for this when I was younger and got through only for Channel 4 to pull the plug on the series. Wankers!! - was my dream to be on that show when I was a kid.

I remember I had a 5.25inch floppy drive for my C64.

It was HUGE, i mean bigger than a fucking shoebox

Games loaded quick, but had even more fucking loading errors than the tapes

Run the Gauntlet was class!

Almost as good as the go-karts at the end of Pat Sharp's Fun House!

then i got a spectrum 128,which was awesome, but by that time the amiga 500 was out which blew my mind!

I progressed from my spectrum onto a 1024 Atari ST, which I talked my parents into buying me to "do my homework on"

My mum pulled the master stroke of saying it was no use for homework unless I could type, passed me a manual type writer and said "when you can do 40 words a minute let me know and I will buy you one"

Aged 12 I think I was, and I spent 16 hours a day for 10 days in the holidays practicing and she was true to her word (if a little surprised it only took me 10 days, lol) and bought me it.

I had cartridges in my atari 2600.

What a pile of shite that was, but good fun in the 80's.

I'll see your 64's, and lower it... I had Kickstart on a Commodore 16! Some of the later levels (13 and up?) were a RIGHT bitch.

16k of ram...... My watch probably has more than that these days.

I remember the ZX81, my mates dad had one, but it was a 48K that I first started programming on.

That seemed like plenty of memory then too!
(mind you, I was only about 8, lol)

I used to program on the ZX81, only copying from books, was about 6 or 7 I think.

I remember trying to set up a super small dimension array, and it used all the memory. Then when you pressed a key, you had to wait about 5 seconds for it to come on the screen.

Oh, and what was that keyboard about??

i've still got my zx81... you had to make sure you didn't press the buttons to hard or it would crash and you'd loose everything you programmed in.

the best game for it was '3d monster maze' but you needed the 16k ram pack for that

Christ that's brought some memories back!

Run the Gauntlet was made in Hawley woods that backs onto my parents house. I remember cycling over on my BMX [raleigh burner with yellow mag wheels ] to watch them make it.

It was a shit show though

We had both. Felt so post having a commodore 64
Think it was around the £200 mark at the time. Quite expensive.
Next time I go to my bids house I'll get a photo of Kickstart on tape.
