Some but thankfully I had previously replaced the door between the garage and the house with a proper fire door. Firemen said it saved the house.
They were well impressed with how it had stood upto the fire.

only damage to the house is mainly soot and smoke residue. The door kept most of it out.

We weere advised not to stay in it last night so we didn't, they told me to expect the bricks to be still hot in the morning
Firemen did a good job though, and very thorough using heat source detectors. They did drag the car out in the end though as there were still heat spots after 2 hours.

At the end of the day cars and buildings can be replaced and rebuilt but no one can ever replace your family.

Glad to here everyone is safe. Good on ya for trying to control it, alot of ppl would have left it to burn on its own.

You did well to get not only yourself but your family out too. Sounds like a nightmare come true. Some one was smiling on you & your family if you look at it that way.

Bad news mate, glad you are all ok! I was just filling the car up earlier thinking "people forget how flamable petrol is but they fill their cars up every day without a 2nd thought to it"

that's something at least, i was imagining half the house had gone up too

i wonder how many others will now go and check the fire rating of the doors from their garage to their houses?

Shit man! Not good news!

But as everyone else has said - the most important things that can't be replaced are safe - your family and you.

So it *COULD* have been a LOT worse......
