Fagin ran his 500bhp RS500 with a standard box for ages and it didnt let do.......................

Until the new owner launched it at the pod

Like i said, it all depends on how you drive, if you are someone who hammers the fuck out of it in 1st it wont last long at all

Foook....500bhp.

Even Quaife only rated their gear kit at 420lbs of torque and suggested not launching it too often !!!!!

Yep....When I called them when I was planning the gear kit, I asked them what power it was safe to run, and they seemed very reluctant to give me any figures at all !!!!! You will also not be able to find any information on their web site, suggesting what power it's good for.

After lots of chatting, one of their sales guys said it was safe for 420lbs of torque......Not sure if that's a cautious figure and may take alot more, but trying to get that figure out of them took about three phone calls.

On reflection, given the chance again, I'd have just fitted a T56 box from the Mustang (Six Speed, Ratios all the same up to 5th gear, and 6th gear is purely an overdrive). Supposedly lots stronger than the T5. And lets face it, if the Dodge Viper RT10 uses it, with the torque that produces, it's got to be pretty good.

Jim, i think it'll be fine with 430ish, like you say, they're probably being cautious

hi pete

too be perectly honest with you , when my car was a genuine 350bhp /352ftlbs the box lasted for yrs took loads of abuse from me

it was only when i went for the harvy gibbs 400bhp conversion that it killed the box after about 3months of abuse

350 driven hard all day long
