Default Windows XP SP2 - Do I install?

Time has come around again for my monthly reinstall of Windows XP.

Do I install the final version of SP2 (I only tried the beta version before) or is it still as poo.

I found last time that it made my laptop REAALLLLYYY SLLOOOWWWW.

Is the final version better?

One of my work colleagues mentioned something about service pack 2A?

got it on some computers @ work is ok from what I can see, work in the IT department a person that works with me has it on his laptop no problem for him.

the only thing we have had problem with is the new secuirty centre it installs with a better firewall stoped us using WinVNC until we enabled it.

IBM will NOT install it yet
RM will NOT install it yet
loads of local IT support companies recomend against it.
I won't install it yet

i know of a handful of users who have killed there PC's with it.

they recon on a large network 2 out of 10 PC's will not boot after a SP2 install.

http://www.computerweekly.com/Article132541.htm

you may be ok as a home user, depends on what applications you have. Just check before installing.

I won't be installing on our network yet.....we need to run more testing.

It will only tend to cause you problems if you already have a firewall on your machine, if your using the one built into xp then you shouldn't have a problem.

Main thing you would need to get is the fix for the jpg issues. More stupid microsoft idoits, no doubt the same person/people responsible for the xbox buffer underrun problems.
