Default GARAGE DOOR OPENER LANDS MAN WITH £5K FINE

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/defa...?storyId=16705

Judge Jacqueline Davies was having none of it and told him, ‘I am satisfied that you took deliberate action in acquiring this equipment with a view to avoiding further points’, before handing down the fine along with a one-year ban.

i should imagine the fine was down to his income/outgoings. ie he's probably minted to a £300 fine wouldnt really bother him

I love this country No really, you can deal drugs, drive drunk and carry a knife around with you, but no WAY can you have a door opener...

So, hold on, what are we saying here?

1. He fitted a Garage Door Opener Transponder to deliberately evade Police laser guns?

2. It was already there from a previous owner of the vehicle?

If he doesn't have an Electric Garge Door, then it can only be one of those 2 possibilities surely?

If it was the second, then trace the original owner and ask him if he fitted it and whether he had/has the compatible Garage Door for it. If he did/does, then that surely proves this guy innocent, if he didn't then this guy did it on purpose and therefore deserves his punishment? OK, I suppose the punishment was harsh, when you compare it to other offences, as Less said, but I don't think the old bill were entirely wrong in convicting this guy.

I'm not saying I agree with Police speed traps, because I don't, but the law is the law.

He should now go out and get pissed mug an old lady, steel a car and drive it whilst drunk the wrong way up a dual carriageway. Bet he'd get less fucked for it

Lets be honest he was trying to pull a fast one imho but the punishment is a proper piss take

yes totally agree with what your saying. but what i was trying to say is that for instance.... if he earned £100k per year then a £300 fine wouldn't really be much of a detarent for him would it. yet a £300 may possibaly cripple a low earner. a fine should reflect your income/outgoings. but i know what people are saying, it does seem a bit harsh when people get much less for more serious crimes

Fine would be appropriate to his earnings, if it was loose change to him then it is no detterant.
It is a piss take when JP accept peoples excuses about very high speeds as they need their license for thier job so don't get banned, anyone with half a brain would take more care it it!!
My bros was one such person, he should have been banned but wasn't as he needed his license for job, not right.

Bollox....
If he is a big earner already, then he is getting royally fucked everytime he gets his wages....

I fooking hate this system...
the people who work hardest get butt fucked harder than those that dont work at all.....

Bit totally IRRELEVANT to assume hard work equals wealth!!
Some people work bloody hard and get very little pay, everyone gets shafted by this gov, NOT just high earners, my bro is in top tax band, but pays tax based on it, some people in business seem to think because they set themselves up in business they can expect to be loaded for no or little work.
I have wealthy friends who spend money like it is monopoly money, then moan when the bills have to be paid, £500 a weekend is NOT unusual for some, just on food booze, they can't survive on it, makes me bloody sick.
Not everyone who does not work do so out of choice, there ARE genuine cases.
