Default Cossie Flaming question...

I was on the motorway last night, giving it some beans, with a mate following behind me, and my cossie popped a big flame, that ran up the back of the car.

Now, i tried and tried again, but it only done it once out of 40 odd times, and i dunno how i done it. I tried throttle, then coming off quickly hoping the overrun fuel would ignite, but only a tiny blue flame came out.

Is there a throttle "technique" that will make it flame? or is it just by chance they do it? When do they dump fuel in the most?

I wanna burn some people!

ive seen cossies that flame like mad, and i assume thats down to the chip setup.

I don't think there's any paticular throttle technique, mine does it alot and my misses said yesterday coming back from NMS it was doing loads and the flames were lasting too..

I'll have proper ones in a few weeks the car is going to MA Developments for Autronic and i'm having the Anti-lag again like i had on my Evo..

so do you literally just have to shut the throttle off completely at high revs/boost, and it "should" flame?

alot of it is to do with overun fuel and if you have generated enough heat into the housing

unles the system is running slightly richer because of somethng else and when you lift off the unburt stuff that is sitting in the exhaust system is what's getting torched?

dojj most will dab a extra bit of fuel in at high end intail overun to combat a bit of heat

Thats what overrun fuel is for though! to cool the bores down. If you look at race cars, they flame like fook for that reason.

Thats what i was trying. at 4k, full throttle to 6k, then flicking off the throttle very quickly, but it wouldnt do it.

think i need to ask Mr. Norris and see if he can add some overrun for me!

Mike, was it flaming when you'd just given it death so to speak??

As you've mentioned, when out on track cars are on full chat most of the time and things get very hot, just get Karl to do you some over run..

my old saff on greens used to flame like a bastard, just take your car to engine advantages, let them fuck up the "mapping?!" so it sits on about 9% C.O and does about 15MPG. It will go like a bastard, on ful throttle, be rubbish everywhere else, but the flames you get as all the bore-washing fuel pours out of the exhaust are awsome, when I backed off on long down hill, it used to be like a fucking flame thrower, it would stick out a great big long orange flame, then as you pressed the clutch to change down it would flash over the boot

yeah i think so. Literally after going from 3rd, full throttle all the way to 5th @ 6k. then came, off, and thats when i think it popped the flame. I was too busy looking where i was going to see it properly. but i cant remember if i came completely off the throttle or not.

so will the chip need adjusting? or can it be done with the idle mixture screw? i dont want it to blow fuck-off flames all the time.

i got a CO2 meter, so i wouldnt fuck it up anyway. i just thought maybe there was something you could do with the throttle to help it a bit. if i gently press my throttle on overrun, it pops quite loud through the exhaust, i wondered if that would help at all.
