Id prefer the "Metal air filters, inc those expensive Blitz ones, are proven to be useless at filtering anything apart from massive stuff and do nothing but look pretty" oil

You forgot the 'as used by millions with no problems as they obviously live in enviroments where particles of dust and shit are so large they get filtered properly' bit

i take it you sell them then

I cant see what damage small dust particles can do, but must do somthing otherwise we wouldnt have such fine filtering filters.

I know even tiny particles can damage AFMs, esp hot wire ones like on newish Scoobys etc.

Only going my a proffesional test that was done on all tyes of filter, let me find it...

Also know the biggest Blitz one isnt even as high flowing as the "GrpA" Cossie K+N filter, so much so that on a car with about 600bhp the metal was was restricting so much it was sucking the tubo-filter pipe shut on boost and making the car stall... (This was a cossie BTW )

Steve I must remain unbiased and impartial to all the products I sell.
K&N, pipercross, ram air, HKS, Blitz, Powertec, Green, BMC, JR, Jetex, Quikshift etc etc.
I would have agreed with you, but as Jim is not actually knocking on the door of 600 horse power I think that arguement is void
However I could name a few cars from here that ARE running this type of filter.....580bhp, 605bhp, 555bhp All with no problems. (when I say no problems I mean no problems that the filter has caused, as obviously they are all in their cossy sick beds at the moment with illnesses)
Incidently, I have run my metal gauze filter for well over a year, 10,000 miles, and the blades on my turbo are undamaged.
My car is currently 759bhp (unproven) and uses at least 300 at any one time

On behalf of a major research company, we undertook our own tests on all the well known brands of filter too.
Our personal scientific test results proved that under 100bhp there is very little between all the major league players.
The only alarming result we found was the inability for even the most expensive filter to restrict any of the shitty smell come from our arses as we farted into the tops of all the filters.
I think you understand our tests were as factual as yours

my filter's currently BLACK by the way, so even justa clean with no oil would be better than whats its like currently

Surely on a filter that is blowing out rather than sucking in oil isn't that important

Jim,

there isnt an oil available for the quikshift ones. Its stainless steel, just dunk it in some soapy water

seriously, theres no oil that quikshift make. the filters dont come pre-oiled either. Just wash it and you should be ok.

Come to think of it Jimbo
If you are talking about the air filter why don't you extend the hose with that breather filter on the end so it reaches the air filter and rig it up as a cone oil spray system The longer you own the car Jim the more efficient the spray will get

Oils for filters are pretty much the same. They catch the small particles that a dry filter wont
