A common problem on cossies is crank pulley wear and is usually overlooked.
The woodruff key way wears allowing the pulley to move with respect to the crank shaft.
This causes the ignition to be retarded in most cases losing power and in
extreme cases, causes ignition to be advanced which could lead to a melt down !
I had this exact problem many years ago.
