We did it on the cheap, but i would never change it,

the wedding itself was about £1000 all in (ok another £3500 for the 2 weeks in jamaca where we got married )

and reception when we got back must of been about £1500 tops i recon, Its good to know people in the know

we get married 11 weeks this saturday, and our budget is 2.5k and managed to get everything for that price, were having 1 reception with a cold carvery, registry office ceremony and called in lots of favours which has saved us a fortune

we have got 4 days in Dublin afterwards included in that price, going on proper honeymoon about March next year when Lee has enough holidays at work

plenty of ways to save money, ive made all of our invitations by hand, and the favours, best mate is a dressmaker so bridesmaids dresses have cost me about £50 for the 2 got my dress at an exceptionally good price, our photographer happens to be Lees cousin, so thats knocked a large chunk off our outgoings, Weve got family doing the cold carvery reception, which has saved us an awful lot more

At the end of the day, its not how much you spend on the wedding, its the marriage afterwards that count, and unless you have a spare 20k sitting about doing nothing, i really cant see why anyone would spend so much

Its showing your love and commitment to each other, not seeing who can have the most impressive overdraft or credit card bill

£1000's spent doesnt = perfect wedding, its the people and the atmosphere that will make it

my folks got maried for £12, including the wedding itself, plus the hall, plus the meal afterwards
there were 12 guests in all but my old man knew everyone who needed to be asked a favour

i got married for £13k
there were around 200 people for that one and i called in a lot of favours as my uncle is the head priest at the local temple so he did it for free and pulled a few strings to get the hall booked and stuff, foos was great at only £18/head while other places started from £22/head and it wasn't exculsive either for the hall as they had 3 other parties booked in at the same time

I had around 60 people at my reception, mainly family and a few friends. I just told everyone I knew there was an open invitation and just to turn up. Not many of them did so I knew who my REAL friends were after that.

Not that I gave a shit at the time

we got married nearly 2 years ago, did the whole lot in mauritius, just told everyone we were going and if you wanted to come where we would be, we paid £7500, that was two weeks all incl in two differant 5* hotels was mega, then a massive party when we came back at a local hotel for all the people who couldnt make mauritius, great value for money, and great weather.

if you count the money the people spent who cam to mauritius ( was 16 of us in total ) then its was £34k - but we didnt pay for them so not our cost, wouls have been quite happy on our own

Well, never mind the cost, I think most of you are rushing into it.

Ms B and I have been together for 8-years now and I don't feel quite ready yet.

When it does come to it, I might go for one of those Las Vegas drive-thru jobbies. Infact, there's a great idea for a business venture, then I get mine for f*ck all!!

im with christian on this one

ive been with nikki for about 7 years maybe 8 and we live together though we done that after the first 3 days and have a kid together but not sure about it

these days its too easy to stray/leave the partner than it used to be for that reason fuck would i spend that sort of cash

if we was to get married it would be a small thing in rome with very few people around me and done like wazzer said,, opened invite and see who ya mates are as tbh,,,,, even your best mates can fuck you over at times

good luck to all that do it and fair play,,,, but id rather it was about "us"
besides i think its pointless getting married if you already live together,,,,, wont be as special as its ment to be IMO even though theres more chance you will stay together

the wedding costs shitloads because nowadays if you don't invite everone you've ever met, bumped into, spoken to on the phone or even thought about, you are going to put someones nose out of joint and they are going to get all upset with you the next time they see you

damn relatives eh, most of the 200 people at my wedding were related to me in some way shape or form, i think there were only about 30 people who wern't, but i did have my dads mate come along, who bought his son to the do to, he was a relative unknown then but didn't perform as he was up on stage the next day at the mela, and then we spotted him on top of the pops a few weeks later

3k. Witch in law made bridesmade dresses, lindsay made the cake. Biggest spend was her dress. Then rest on church and reception/night do. Honeymoon was the biggest cost as that was for US not every fooker else who you hardly ever see
