Probably around 2.5k, and that included everything, hire of the castle, food and drink at the castle after ceremony ( was 45 mile away from the reception so had to provide the hungry horace's with something ! ) hire of the hall for meal and dance, hire of the band to play at the dance, included the price of all the dresses which were hand made ( brides dress and 2 bridesmaids and also 4 flower girls ) flowers, favours, all the drink we provided and probably quite a lot more that i have forgotten about !!
Does make quite a difference though when your wife just happens to be an award winning wedding co-ordinator
If she had to provide a wedding similar to ours it would have cost the client somewhere in the region of 30k

Ł800, and our daughters birth aside, it was the best day of our life
It took alot of whinging for me to pay that for a bit of paper too
I know at least 5 couples who've spent 20k+ only to divorce in 6 months. Awesome
Unless you have the money, I think it's madness to spend so much tbh
Too many people spendmoney to make it enjoyable for everyone else. Its NOT their day, it's YOURS!!!!

All this money on a wedding.........madness. Do it on the cheap and lump a chunk off the mortgage. Surely that's got to be a better investment ? As long as you've got the bit of paper that says you're married and have a nice backdrop for the pictures what else do you need ?

average is 10k i think.
I told the misses we would chip off to vegas and get marriedshe thought it was a cool idea
Lots of people are getting married abroad, for the 10k you could fly you and close family out, everyone else book their years hoiliday at the resort and jopins you

I would estimate mine around 6-7k (church wedding, cars, meals, reception etc etc), couldn't have been a better day if we spent another 100k.
As long as you have a nice location, food and friends/family.
Excess..............., is it stupidity, ignorance or just to keep one step ahead of the Jones....doesn't impress me i'm afraid.

I think ours was between Ł3000-Ł4000 but my mate did us excellent deal on the reception He was my best man so we held the reception at his hotel and I'm sure he ended up out of pocket
We went to 2 other weddings in the same year as ours and both had lots more money spent on them and both were at posh hotels but everyone kept referring back to ours and how great the food was, the atmosphere and everything It's not all about how much you spend

Do i get a prize for the cheapest one ?? about Ł1000 mine , it would of been cheaper if i had my way i would of just fucked off to greta green on done it, but it wasn't fair on my mum to just do that , i really can't see the point in spending thousand's on a wedding , i would sooner have something to show for my money not just a memory of a wedding day

Weddings to me are not only about making a vow to the girl you love, but also about having all your favourite people in the world get together for a big meal and party and to get some good memorable pictures of you all together having a great time. That sadly doesnt come particularly cheaply if there are a lot of people involed.

Im not married and as yet have not plans to but all i can say from the experiences of my brothers wedding, get some fit Bridesmaids makes the night so much more enjoyable only kidding!!!
To be truthful my brothers wedding was by no means the cheapest nor the dearest but it was at a lovely country club, good food and like Stu said its all about being with friends family and closest buddies at one time.
My most memorable moment of my bro's wedding is when we were both smashed at about midnight. Just got another drink from the bar for myself and the doris, and my brother came up to me put his arms round me, hugged me and said -
"Bro, your the best brother i could ever wish for, I love you."
That seriously fucked it we both started crying, but seriously made my day that comment.
So i would say from that day money is not important, its with who you choose to share that special day with....
