Default Plasma tv,s whats the sp

was looking in comet yesterday at tv,s
Thought they were quite well laid out in size rows of various makes.
Being a man I ended up at the 50 inch section,we had in the row lg samsung panasonic and philips all playing the same thing simaltaniously, the tv that seemd to have the best picture was one of the samsungs, the cheaper one.
the 2300 samsung which had for more pixels was not as good.
The 1300 was better with far less pixels
Is it my age and eye sight lol

i heard they put the most signal to the TV's they need to sell..making the other's picture seem shite. Conspiracy !!!!

I have a cheapo LCD ( Ł450 ) and the picture is fantastic, especially in HD, on Blu Ray discs and DVD's

I don't think you'd go far wrong whichever one you choose tbh

I noticed that about the samsungs as well!

And I am only 14 with perfect vision.

Are they actually any good though in comparison?

reason being there are only 3 manufacturers who make panels.

one of the being samsung, so you'll see the samsung panel in alot of other TV's just with a higher price tag, as your paying for the name

a prime example is sony, who apparantly use the samsung panels.

pioneer are the leaders in plasmas.

I remember hearing about this years ago when LCD PC screens started getting affordable. Is it STILL true or just a myth? Weren't LG one of the other manufacturers?

Anyway, that doesn't answer why the samsungs have better pictures or if they're any good/best value?

apparantly its still the same as i was told this by quite a few companies.

alot of it is to do with the processing and scaler unit inside the TV.

i.e how well the signal is converted to picture.

Samsungs are excellent value i think, i just personally dont like the look of the TV itself, so went for a pioneer.

I agree! Pioneer always seem to be put together properly and have a better feel/quality about them.

It's a bit like say ... the Skoda and the VW's. We all know they're the same engines etc. but the VW has better build quality and less flimsy interior bits.
