Default 'Tarmac' spec rally cars.. Good trackday car?

As above peeps, im looking for a cheap(ish) track car and came across a full 'tarmac rally' spec'd 205 GTi, what exactly does tarmac spec mean?

More importantly, would it make a good/bad/sweet track car as it stands?

Isn't it to do with the suspension setup & brakes etc. Different for each type of rally/ground etc.

Depends how exntesively prepped that car is. Basically it would be wheels, suspension, brakes. On expensive Group A cars this can be whole different car including the bodyshell....

In my opinion its pointless.

a good 205 tarmac spec rally car will be circa 4-5k.
a good 205 in road going trim will be 1500 quid and ideal for track days.

I used to take my old Gp A one on track occasionally.

God it was boring

To some people tarmac spec is just solid beam mounts, a set of billies, 1.6 gearbox and 15" rims so make sure you know what your getting
