POLYCARBON WINDOWS, HOW TO POLISH??
I bought an ex-ME (Dutch equivalent of SPG I think) truck wich, amongst other things, is fitted with polycarbon windows.
You can barely see through the front-side windows as the surfaces has tiny scratches in it and it has weathered due to general use and exposure to all sorts of weather.
I reckon if I can polish the toplayer they will become transparant again?
How to polish them, what can be used?
One of the extra's on this truck is that is has a shute in the floor that was used to drop teargasgrenades from
Another extra is the 40 kg bulletproof grill
It's powered by a 3.8 litre 4-pot diesel with a slushbox and it is what they call an industrial diesel wich means it'll run on just about anyhting and has a longer life expectancy that the current owner

If the polycarb has been subject to lots of UV then no amount of polishing will help it - you might have to get new ones made. They only have a life span of about 2.5years.
I use Poorboys Spray and Gloss (its an anti-static spray for the buftys) on my polycarb windows and use a microfibre cloth to wipe it clean. Using a sponge or cloth will leave scratches. If you havent got access to an antistatic spray just wash them with warm soapy water, but you need to use a microfibre, anything else will scratch it.

Not the answer I was hoping for
See, they are set in huge steel frames as they are ment to be bulletproof so removal will probably take ages and be an akward job
I do so love my new 'van' though, at nearly 4 metric tonnes it's not quick but it'll easily drive through a house

Thats the one and only downside with polycarb. At decent thickness it is indeed bulletproof, BUT, even rubbing your finger across it will cause fine scratches that cannot be removed. Perspex/acrylic is not as strong from an impact point of view but any scratches can be rubbed down with fine grit paper and buffed to a perfect shine again.
I used to work with clear plastics as a fabricator and hated polycarb, everything you do with it is horrible, forming it and welding it is so difficult as it bubbles and thats it.
If it was one deepish scratch that was bothering you it could with time and skill be removed with direct hot air but loads of surface imperfections and general discolouring is irreversable. If theyre flat panels it shouldnt be too costly to replace mate. There MAY be a meguirs product for it as I know they do loads for the plastics industry, we used a certain grade on acrylic and it realy was like magic.
