I had that happen with a Belgian HGV, a left-hooker so I probably was in his blind-spot......with me trying to keep traction on all 4 wheels while standing on the brakes, one thumb on the horn, he finally noticed me but not before I had two wheels scraping against the central-reservation kerb and his right-side clipping my passenger-side wing mirror off (thankfully, electric, so it didn't come off completely).

Wing mirror clipped back on, no other damage apart from some hardly noticeable scuffs on the back of the mirror. Lucky, really...

Sounded close mate - I saw a program, maybe top gear or fifth gear not long back of what happens in this situation, they used a big volvo as a demo car and fuck me it was near totalled! So when I am on the motorway now in my little scort I make sure that I have enough room infront to get straight by and get by quick! cos the fookers pull out to overtake well early sometimes!

Yeah, I remember that episode, and yes, the Volvo was totalled.

Thing is, this wasn't a thing about leaving space in front of the HGV because we were the only two vehicles on the road, and it was a dual-carriageway; I was already in the right-hand lane pretty early to give him chance to see me (it was kinda half-light, just starting to go dark) so he should have seen me coming. Fair play, the dual-carriageway curves to the right through some traffic lights (which had just turned green - we were about 50m from the lights, so he would have seen both the sliproad on the left, and that both lanes of the dual-carriageway curve through the lights), with a sliproad off to the left, and the roadsign that displays this is confusing as hell (it makes the road look like the two lanes split, when they don't).

This cock jockey hit me on purpose in his M registered, rusted to fuck, battered works van. I dont have a clue what he worked as and TBH, I couldnt give a flying fuck. Any jock strap like him who is willing to ram someone off the road because I jumped a space in a cue of traffic needs to have serous words with himself.

Not all van drivers are the same, I used to drive one myself, its the minority that ruin it for the majority.
