RUST!!!!!
This is going to the number one thing to check for as it is VERY common and will drink all your money getting it sorted. The worst bit is that when you have spent all that dosh, the car will look no different
So, start at the front and check every little bit of the car, and don't think "that will be easy to sort" as most likely it wont.
Next up, look at the colour, is it any good, you don't want to be giving it a full respray as by the time you've sprayed it, turbo'd it, you may has well have bought a nice clean S2 turbo.
Then, look at the paint, will it clean up with the minimum of fuss??
As the turbo convertion will mean replacing most other bits, then not a lot more to look for.
The best way to do the conversion will by to buy a rotten S2 or crash damaged.
Then with the cars close to each other, you can swap all the bits over, try and do things together, ie, take out the bonus lump, then take out the turbo lump and drop it straight into the bonus, this way your memory will be fresh as to what went where, same with the electrics etc.
You'll be best to basically swap everything over. This is why you will save masses by getting a 600 -1k rotten S2 as you will have everything you need to do the job, remember, all the little bits are what really add up so having them all there will be cheaper in the long run.
Create a resto thread and take loads of picutres, you'll get all the help you need.
