I recently bought a Ricoh R5. Its got a litium battery and lasts ages. Shot over 100 photos and a good few vids at the RedBull AirRace and it hardly used any power.

Its a wicked camera as its well compact and has a 7X optical zoom. ALso they are pretty cheap as no ones heard of Ricoh, even though they have been around ages, and the new model has come out aswell .

If i remember tonight ill shove some pics on my mem stick and upload them for you tomorrow. Got some well good pics from the Air Race that just wouldnt have been possble without the extra zoom this has compared to the 3X of most compact cameras.

I got it from jessops in the end. Could only find it a few quid cheaper on the web and jessops were doing a Ł20 voucher deal with it aswell. Also they had black ones in stock which i think look better than silver

I have a FUJI FINPIX S 9600, I have taken to date 546 pictures at 10 MEGAPIXEL on ONE set of RECHARGEABLES, and they were still not flat, half battery life was on.
28-300 zoom, 10 X opt, ace camera, had the previous inferior FUJI 6900 but accidentally left it on the roof of my car at a race meet, and drove off, cost Ł900, plus Ł200 acessories!!
I use ANSMANN rechargies AA size 2700mah, never used any this good before, have nearly 10 rechargies for various house things kids toys mainly, and none even come close to ANSMANN, have ansmann mains/car charger as well, 1 hour charge time from new(fully flat)
S 9600 also takes video's as well as my SONY CAMCORDER, up to 90 minutes, on 1GB but you can put in 2X 8GB!

Lots of great little cameras around at the moment for sensible money. Personally i love Canons compact IXUS range and assure you that you wouldnt go wrong with something like this one i use for all PF pissup pics.

Thats teh model above mine with "IS" Very nice indeed.
