Default Pinto piston question...

on a standard pinto engine, do the pistons sit below the deck of the head, or in-line with it?

Also, whats the best way to raise compression?

reason i ask is, i have a pinto, that was supposed to be built for low comp, to run a turbo, but ive heard that the pistons sit lower then the deck anyway.

Cheers!

I know nothing about pintos pretty much, but most engines run the pistons slightly above the deck, and i do mean VERY slightly (like 5 thou or less)

Both of mine sat slightly above.

yes, tuners do high compression pistons. You could skin the head, use a thinner head gasket, ect

ok thanks peeps. mine sit just below the deck (about 1 mm), so this must mean it has low comp pistons.

I was told its got a cossie crank/rods. So could that lessen the height of the pistons aswell? or are they the same length as normal pinto jobs?

just read that the standard pinto crank can rev to 8500 anyway. But the rods are 1.5mm longer than normal pinto ones. so if i had cossie rods, then it would actually make the pistons taller than the block. unless i have shallow pistons or something.
