Must have caught in the gravel just after leaping over the edge of the track.

Hope it's not too bad - the write up on that car in one of the Jap car mags recently showed sooooo much work has gone into it.

Nice colour, eye catching

Yes there was.... but they worked through the night to get it ready for TOTB

Quotes from Clive from MLR

It hit very hard but thanks to the cage and impact wall the essentials remained intact ....ish
Thank god we put the radiator in the back.
I would like to thank everyone who helped get it driveable again, especialy Fishmonkey, who worked in the dark by torch light until the early hours....I owe you bigtime fella!
The impact was enough to shove the turbo into the block, bending the manifold by 15 degs or so , which gave us dramers re-aligning pipework. ..
Amazingly the shell structure is undamaged, a testament to the cage which travels right out to the front indicators internally.
Thankfully all three cars from our camp running for the MLR scored well and I poped my 9 sec cherry on its first outing in Time Attack Trim , closely followed by the orange car with a 10.1
Thanks again Fish for your efforts! They were worth so much.
Clive
The car is with AutoBahn in Blackpool and has been measured on their jig today and has thankfully been given the all clear on the shells integrity. It requires a new slam pannel, both headlights and front wings. The bonnet hunched on the top speed run so will be replaced aswell. The rest of the damage is to the turbo, manifold and intercooler, which looks like they took the hit.
The underside is also being stripped and stoneguarded and repainted as it hasn't faired well to the trips into the gravel........
The strength in that car is truley unbelievable!

Is it space framed then?

Gutting about the turbo hitting the block!?

Strange how no one else have commented on this. I havent seen it but it shure sounds a bit similar to Andrew Gallaghers Focus?

the impact was harsh,i would say he got down from 100mph ish to maybe 50mph when he hit the tyres but the damage was not as bad as it first looked.
the braking point in the wet has a little kick that you don't get in the dry due to being able to brake later.it looked like he went very slightly sideways under braking ,by the time he got it strait the car had no chance of stopping.

50mph impact speed is still going to hurt like fuck. I'd be thankfull to walk away never mind the car suffereing such relatively littloe damage.

Strange for a cage to go behind the indicators!

I know there not allowed "space frames" in the Time Attack...

Id like to see pictures of the cage and compare it to Andrews Focus

As far as im aware you can add whatever bracing you want via a cage, providing the original inner wings etc stay in place, and thats the difference with the AG car sadly, its built as a spaceframe and then has some thin sheets tacked on to keep the dirt out etc, as opposed to still being a full chassis and then just adding more tubes to it for safety.

Ive not seen the build photos, but it all looked pretty "normal" stuff when I saw it at TOTB in terms of just being a normal shell with some extra bracing for safety as opposed to being built as a space frame.

The RC car is not spaceframed in any way

A rollcage doesnt mean a spaceframe, it has front chassis rails, the drivers one was bent as fuck after that crash, i watched them make and use a home made jig at knockhill that night to pull it straight.

It was amazing they managed to by TOTB and then run a 9.

Amazing the manifold didnt crack either, it was bent loads, but stayed in one piece, awesome.

thats not space framed tho.

its got a very flash rear diff carrier subframe thingy, whats wrong with having a flashy tubular subframe?

its not like the front or rear suspension istruts are purely attatched to a space frame chassis is it.

its had its boot floor metal replaced with with carbon etc, dont make the front or rear of the car spaceframed does it.
