FAO anyone who knows about scoobys / engine mods etc....
A mate of mine is dragging me up to Crewe this weekend to look at a Subaru Sti Type R he quite fancies. Its had a shedload of work done to it and although i've tried persuading him to spend his pennies elsewhere he is adamant what he wants! (he's had one in the past and liked it....).
The engine spec is below... There is a big resto thread on scoobynet but would rather have a non bias opinion on the engine spec as to whether it looks correct / shite etc etc...
Here is a pic of the car in question with the spec below....
Axis stage 4 build... (EJ22t) 2.35:
stage 4 includes
- 2.2 Liter Fully Closed Deck Shortblock
- Piston Squirters
- Stock Steel Sleeve Liners
- Modified Axis Racing Forged Crankshaft
- Balanced & Polished to 10,000 RPMS
- Pauter 4340 Chrome-Moly Forged Rods
- Axis Racing/ CP forged pistons (8.5:1 or 9:1)
- 8500 RPM Rev Limit
Sealed together with Cometic head gaskets and ARP studs and bolts
Adaptronics ECU
A Andy Forrester Garrett hybrid turbo MD321T (bolts in standard position)
Samco turbo inlet pipe
800cc v-port injectors
Uprated spark plus ( £130 quid for 4!!! )
Hybrid FMIC
Walbro fuel pump
Parrallel fuel mod
Cossie fuel pressure regulator
Teg sport uprated headers & up-pipe
Carl Davey inlet manifold spacers
APi baffled sump
RCM uprated oil pump
Water spray re-routed to just behind the front number plate for the FMIC
On top of the mods... every tensioner, idler, belt, gasket, oil modine, water pump etc replaced when engine built.
STi 8 Brembos up front, with recent new pads fitted.
18 inch prodrive reps with Toyo tires fitted which are as old as the engine rebuild and have done less than 4K on them.
The car has had regular oil changes, the run in period up to 2500 miles had 6-7 oil changes... since then its had 3 lots of Mobil 1 15w/ 50w ... without looking, the car has done between 3500-4000miles on the rebuild. The car is now showing 54K on the clock...
It'll run 14psi @ low boost ( est 380bhp-400bhp ish ??? )
And around 22psi @ high boost (est 440-bhp + ??? )
Here is the link to the rsto thread (takes a few moments to load).

Would that kind of spec be reliable?? He's not an avid mechanic but has enough wonga to look after and maintain it. How would the transmission hold up to that power??
Any pointers would be great!!
Cheers
Chris

500 BHP in a standard box, are you pissed..
Have you had Subarus?? THEY will not take that on standard box, and STI 7 ONWARDS YES, Version 5 and 6`s are better boxes and you might get away with it for a while and i bet the owner himself will be honest enogh to tell you @ 440 and big torque they DON'T last..

looks pretty for a scooby tbh.
i doubt it'll make the power he claims though.its a damn hard job to get that power out of one and bloody expensive but i could be wrong.
it'll be unreliable anyway.it has a cossie part on it the fuel pressure reg.
im awaiting my on the power thing now

cheers chaps, so the main weakness could be the gearbox? In all honesty the guy buying it doesnt drive hard etc so it may not worry him. With regards to the mapping I think he does it himself but if he does buy it im sure tommy field will get his hands dirty on it.
Does that hp figure sound realistic to the engine?

Well we drove up to Crewe to view it and a deposit was left with him within an hour!!!
Was VERY nice, almost mint condition and was stupidly quick! At present runs 12psi on low boost / 22psi on high boost and felt VERY quick, I was even surprised!!!!! A gearbox will cost him £3.5k to cope with the 32psi the engine could potentially run so think he's gonna sell his track 205 to pay for it!!
