My uncle borrowed my dads transit minibus yesterday, he pulled off the motorway and was about 50 yards from his house when the rear tyre went pop. Apparently it was smoking badly, which would make me assume that it was under inflated.
The tyre was made on 02/03 and has done 70k, yet still has plenty of tread left

The otherside looked even worse.

I get 40k out of my fronts and 80k out of my rears.
Could have been much worse mate. I always check my tyres on all my vehicles regulary as its the most important thing by far, especially when i borrow one, and even more so with vans as there generally more neglected.
I get the feeling your uncle and your dad will do the same from now too.
