Default Mk3 escort rear disc conversion...whats needed ??

Can anyone tell me exactly what i need for converting my rear brakes to discs on my mk3 escort ??

I know you need cossie rear calipers and a Mk5 RS 2000 handbrake cable but what exact other parts are needed ?

Mounting brackets, spacers etc etc!!

Cheers guys.

Don't bother. To do it properly will costs more money than you think for virtually no gains. Get decent front brakes instead.

Only worth doing when you have upped the front brakes sufficiently, as with standard front stoppers, you;d end up having to fit a bias vale to bleed off the rears enough to stop it wanting to swap ends when you anchor up..... So unless you go big discs and calipers upfront (ie, Cossy conversion, or aftermarket kit) it ain't worth doing - unless you only want to do it for looks, which is a bit daft really.......

Its not that simple!!! The better the front brakes the more the weight transfer, the more the weight transfer the less grip for the rears etc.

If the drums are healthy leave them alone. If they're tired sort them out. I really don't see th epoint on discs on the backs of these cars.

Only worth doing the rear disc conversion for the looks. The braking efficiency isn't that better.

Check the dates guys

Orion85

Standard sized Cosworth 2wd fronts I guess depending on which set up you have bought.

Ha ha, This was asked way back in the day when i was doing up the XR3 !!

Still got the capri Lee mate, should have some paint in the engine bay this weekend so can start to make some progress fitting the 24v lump then Aint bothered to update the resto thread i started as not much interest in the old capri's these days

I've not yet come across the new clips and bits and pieces i had bought for the escort that i said i would send on to you, got boxes of parts still up in the loft to try and sort through so will find them eventually, will send them out to you whenever i find them ! Car starting to look good now and your making good progress, always good to be bolting parts back on rather than taking off aint it !!
