Default RBmotorsport rear shims, worth fitting

http://www.randbmotorsport.co.uk/shop/Parts.asp?ID=5

is it worth fitting a set of these?

going to fit bayjoo springs & deflex bushes to my saff, already got adj TCA's up front

would i benefit fitting these rear shims as well whilst im at it

will it improve grip/handling?

Definately worth fitting - My car felt less twitchy in a stright line at high speed and the turn in was slightly improved aswell.
Took me 30 mins a side to fit them

The standard beams vary a lot in terms of manufacturing tolerances, so I suspect that in some instances these work very well and in others they arent really the optimum size.

Its a good idea in principle though.

They alter only the toe of the wheel, not camber I think, or it might be the other way round!

Sure someone will confirm!

why cant you fit an extra bit of shim on the top forward bolt as well? just to play with the camber a bit as well as the toe?

I have 2 sets I have yet to fit

i think you would end up loosing the toe effect if you try to shim for camber aswell,

It would have no effect, you have to put them on either the top two* OR the back two. Obviously, you could fit them on the front two OR bottom two, but this would make it even worse handling

*DO NOT DO THIS! It gives horrendous handling trates - the car feels like the back is pitching into the corners .

Worth fitting, but toe and camber needs checking before and after fitment.

to make sure the beams staight at the start, and the shim's have done the job intended.

PMSL

I think i might be needing a set of these......mine feels like it pitches itself into corners without any shims!!!

Back end skips around under braking for corners!!!!

if you have access to camber/caster/toe guages then the rear can be set up to an optimum by adding 'packing' to the rear bearing carrier as a whole.

doesnt take that long either if you know what your doing.

Just out of interest mike, WHY dosn't it work? I am thinking that the gap left on the un-shimmed bolt won't close up properly when the other 3 bolts are tight?

Phil did tell me it had them on so perhaps he was the one that fitted them.

I fitted mine today (had them over a year ) didn't try any high speed bends but the turn in deffinalty felt improved on mini roundabouts and the rear end felt a little more settled, will let you know more after a longer and faster drive

Got some fitting pics on my thread
