Default spring rates

anyone know of anywhere you can get spring rates tested? preferably around derbyshire/south yorkshie/ nottingham area... it is progressivly wound and is red, dimensions 4" dia x 12" long thats about all i know...


any help appreciated!

DIY with a set of bathroom scales, easy as anything, not 100% accurate but mega close.

i guess you used a hydrolic press, with the scales underneath?


But at what point do you take a reading?

Got it in one!!, had to use a tape measure though as well, compress by 1" take readings all the way until compressed.
Not my press don't have one but one is mates workplace(when boss wasn't there!!).
It is a 5ton press, so will compress most things.
I have often though about making one using a bottle jack and some metal but not worth the effort.

I thought there was a set amount of compression where it should be measured??
